Minimum Requirements

In addition to the other University admission requirements for undergraduate programmes, one of the following categories will allow admission to this course:

  • UCE & UACE Certificate with 2 Principal Passes in Physics and Mathematics (MUST);
  • Diploma from a recognized institution of higher learning in a relevant field
  • A Pass in mature-age examination – such candidates must be Ugandan nationals of at least 25 years and have formal education. Those who are successful, in both the written and oral examination, are considered for admission.

Kenyan Applicants for Degree should hold one of the following:

  • KCSE holders must have a minimum grade of C+ and above;
  • KACE, 'GCE or A-levels' applicants must have at least 2 principal passes or its equivalent;
  • A Diploma in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution of Higher Learning

Tanzanian Applicants for Degree should hold at least either:

  • TCE & TACE Certificate with at least 2 Principal Passes;
  • Diploma from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.

Other International Applicants

  • International applicants must have qualifications that are recognized for University entry in their respective countries

The main objective of this 4-year full-time program is to educate students to achieve sufficient engineering knowledge, skills and specialization to meet demands of the job market and the national development objectives.

Civil & Environmental Engineers apply science and technology to develop engineered solutions to environmental, public health, and ecological problems. They deal with issues in water supply and sanitation, waste management, pollution control, construction, health and safety, environmental monitoring, planning and management, environmental data collection and analysis, operation and maintenance, etc. Graduates are well-equipped for further education at postgraduate level anywhere in the world.

The Engineering programs train skilled, versatile, professional and ethical graduates for the national and international workplace. This enables them to practice as professional engineers upon graduation and meeting requirements for registration by the professional board. Graduates can work as District Engineers, Consultants; Project Engineers, Lecturers, Project Managers, Researchers, among others.
