June 20, 2025, Mbale: The Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University (UCU), Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, has appointed Vincent Kisenyi as Acting Principal, UCU Mbale University College, effective June 20, 2025. Leveraging his proven leadership while continuing as Dean UCU School of Business, Kisenyi will guide the College, driving development and consolidating ongoing work during this critical transition period.
Kisenyi received the instruments of authority from outgoing Principal, Dr. Erisa Mazaki Kigenyi, today, during a cheerful handover ceremony officiated by the UCU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Rev. Prof. John Kitayimbwa, who represented the Vice Chancellor, at the College in Mbale District. Kisenyi pledged to serve with zeal to elevate UCU Mbale, promising to advance academic excellence and community impact. He called for teamwork and unity among staff and students, urging everyone to join hands in building a stronger, more vibrant college.

“We should work as a team and build on the wonderful work that Dr. Kigenyi has done here at the College. I look forward to working with each and every one of you,” Kisenyi said while addressing the College staff at the handover ceremony.
Having served UCU for 14 years in various, ascending capacities until he became substantive Principal in 2023, Dr. Kigenyi commended the UCU top management for not only supporting him, but especially, entrusting him with the critical task of stewarding the College Post-COVID. Additionally, he entreated the management, staff and students of the college to embrace, support and cooperate with the new Principal.
Prof. Kitayimbwa applauded the outgoing Principal for his remarkable tenure, especially for securing critical college land at risk of loss to malicious parties. Dr. Kigenyi tirelessly recovered and processed three land titles, officially handing them over today. Additionally, Prof. Kitayimbwa noted that Dr. Erisa significantly streamlined the academic and financial processes and also enhanced overall compliance at the College to the required National Council for Higher Education standards.

“For all you have done, Dr. Kigenyi, we cannot thank you enough. We pray that our good Lord will bless you and grant you favour even in your next assignment,” said Rev. Prof. Kitayimbwa to Dr. Kigenyi, who now moves on to one of the government’s education regulation agencies.
As part of the handover ceremony, the UCU delegation that included the UCU Director of Human Resources and Administration, Florence Nakiyingi and the College Cabinet members accompanied Kisenyi and Kigenyi to officially meet the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. John Wilson Nandaah, who was delighted to receive the new Principal. He pledged full Church support for the mission and work of the college under its new leader. “As a host diocese, we have seen the great work UCU is doing and we are eager to see it even going higher and higher,” Bishop Nandaah said.

“We appreciate the UCU management, led by thr Canon Prof. Aaron Mushyengyezi, for identifying Vincent and sending him here to serve with us. We shall make sure to support him.”
Prof. Kitayimbwa reassured the Bishop that UCU remains committed to supporting theological training for clergy and assured him that “strengthening of the Department of Theology at the Mbale University College” is a top priority and mandate from UCU administration to the Acting Principal.
