The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs, Dr. John Kitayimbwa has asked students to prepare for Trinity Semester Examinations which are due from 9th -19th August, 2021
According to a memo released on 30th June, 2021, students should prepare for any format of examination which he said would be communicated soon.
"The examination format and the timetable shall be communicated as soon as possible. Therefore you are advised to prepare adequately irrespective of the format," Dr. Kitayimbwa said.
He added that students should pay their tuition fees and clear with the Finance Department early enough so as to avoid inconveniences.
According to the Memo, the Advent semester will commence on 20th August, 2021 and students are encouraged to register for the semester online through the Alpha application.
"Initiate your registration on alpha.ucu.ac.ug to register for your course units on good time," the memo read.
Meanwhile, the virtual graduation date has been set to 22nd October, 2021. All finalists due for graduation have been advised to start clear with the university digitally.
Due to Covid19 resurgence and emergence of a second lockdown therein, UCU will hold only one graduation instead of the usual seven across all campuses and Constituent Colleges annually.
Students preparing for graduation have embraced the arrangement saying it will avail opportunities for them in the job market.
"I was only waiting for the transcript. I have always received job invites but all were turned down because I have no transcript and certificate," Peter Butele, a student of Bachelors of Business Administration said in an interview.
Penelope Nankunda, a finalist student of Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, remains hopeful saying almost all people have tasted the harsh effects of the pandemic.
"The path can never be a straight one, but of course, we shall finally graduate. Our studies have had challenges as brought mostly by Covid but we have always stayed positive," Nunkunda said.
