The Faculty/ School provides an incredible learning environment for students. Aside from classwork, all students undertake field work and internship where they are exposed to different practical learning experiences in different institutions. We engage subject experts to prepare students for future challenges and to broaden the understanding of emerging trends and dynamics in specific areas of education. UCU Business students do participate in the annual CFA challenge involving 6,000 students from over 1,150 universities in 95 countries worldwide and feature as some of the best performers

The Faculty/ School places great emphasis on contributing to knowledge through research generation and dissemination and has over 50 publications. Our focus is especially to bridge the gap between industry and academia. We also purpose that our research turns into innovation. As such we host
i) an annual SME Conference to present papers on topical issues in SME and Entrepreneurship
2) A Research journal- Economic Management Review
3) Faculty research colloquiums and
4) Publish books and policy papers in the area of Business and Economic Development.

In order to address issues of unemployment especially of graduates in Uganda the School has established an entrepreneurship center that houses an Incubation Center. Our goal here is to birth entrepreneurs through practical training and mentoring.

We are privileged that one of our partners has agreed to support the Business Incubation Center. In addition the Center also runs an annual Business Plan competition and Entrepreneurship fair where students showcase their business.

The Faculty/ School attaches great importance to community outreach as part of our social responsibility. Below is a photographic representation of a Joint Community outreach held in June 2019 with the Mukono Municipality.

Among others, the faculty has done a community stakeholder needs assessment. This was followed by a day long skills training for the Mukono business community.

The School has a dynamic team that is focused and seeks to advance the vision of the school to higher levels through introduction of demand and market oriented programs to address the challenge of youth unemployment.

Dr. Martin Lwanga currently serves as Dean. Martin has published 10 books, a book chapter, refereed journal articles and over 100 opinion and editorial articles in mainstream papers. He has presented academic papers at Conferences in Uganda, Palestine, France, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia.

He is assisted by Mr. Godfrey Sempungu, Associate Dean, a marketing specialist and leads off campus programs at Kampala.

Ms. Elsie Nsiyona serves as Head Department Management and Entrepreneurship;

Mr. Peter Opio serves as Head Department of Statistics and Economic and Mr. Henry Mugisha as Head Department of Business and Finance.

The Faculty/ School has put in place at the Kampala campus a center whose goal is to offers various business development professional courses: ACCA/CPA, CIM, CIPS, PIM, CIPD, CFA, etc.

The Kampala Center also offers Executive and short courses in Business development, plus various Business Diploma programs, in addition to a number of evening/ weekend degree programs.

The Faculty/ School is engaged in a number of collaborations with partners around the world. Some of our partners are;-
1) Development Associates International with we jointly host a Masters in Organizational Leadership (MAOL).
2) Hanze University of Applied Science who support staff and student exchange programs; recently we won Euro 14,600 for setting up an incubation centre from Hanze University foundation.
3) Erasmus University- we were part of a consortium that won 136.819,00 euros to Uganda Christian University for cooperation capacity building in the field of higher education
4) Financial Sector Deepening Uganda to carry our research with industry,
5) Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda to develop Human Resource professionals,
6) Start HuB Africa for business mentorship
7) ACCA/ CPA for professional development in Accounting and Audit practice, etc.

The School is assiduously looking for new partnerships/ collaborations in areas of :
i) staff/ student exchange programmes where either can spend a semester learning, ii) joint programme like the case with MAOL and we are currently seeking a partner in our PhD programme,
iii) joint research/ grant management as with Erasmus university, in mutual areas.

Business programs are run in Schools. In order to enhance our network the Faculty/ School has attained membership or is in advanced stage of enrolment:
i) AACBS Membership - The world’s leading business education network that connects students, academia and business,
ii) Association African Business School - This is the premier organization of Business Schools in Africa
iii) Alliance of Belt and Road Business School (ABRBS) - a leading network of Business Schools in Asia.

The faculty has a robust mentorship program that is designed to mentor students in enhancement of the university niche of professionalism and character. Each student is assigned two mentors (internship and research).

These walk with the students through their journey and they stay connected with them even after they have graduated. The faculty also encourages profiled alumni to always come back to offer guest and motivation talks to current students. Staff mentoring programs are also being initiated.
