Dr. Masanza is a Senior Lecturer. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture (Production Ecology and Resource Conservation) from the Wageningen University and Research Centre, Master of Science in Agriculture of Makerere University, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and a Diploma in Education (both of Makerere University), among other academic attainments. He has been a fellow at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA under the Faculty Exchange Program.
He has authored and co-authored 18 articles that have been published in reports, journals and as book chapters.
Dr. Masanza has supervised five graduate students and up to 100 undergraduate students. He has also been External Examiner at Makerere University and Kyambogo University. He has led or been party to several research projects.
Before his current posting, Dr. Masanza worked as Coordinator, BASE Programme in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Senior Research Fellow (UCU School of Research and Postgraduate Studies), Teaching Assistant (Makerere University), and Assistant Project Manager, Nile Roses Uganda Ltd. He is a member of about 10 professional groups, which include the Entomological Association of Uganda, Association for International Agriculture and Rural Development (AIARD), Agri-Hub Network Association, Graduate School Association of Wageningen University and Research Centre (Netherlands).
In terms of service to the community, he is a member of the University Council, representing Senate of Uganda Christian University, member Board of governors, Cornerstone Academy Mukono and chairman of the Academic Staff Promotions Committee at UCU.
